Gary Caldwell sacked as Partick Thistle manager

Gary Caldwell was sacked as manager by Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle.
Former Celtic and Scotland defender Caldwell and his manager Brian Kerr have had their contracts terminated with immediate impact.
The board agreed on the decision after a run of bad form leading to Thistle languishing second-bottom of the second tier win this year.
Partick Thistle chairman David Beattie said:”This really is not an outcome anyone wanted, but we believe this decision is in the best interests of the club and we can wait no more time to make a change.
“On behalf of this board, I’d like to thank Gary and Brian for their efforts to get Partick Thistle and want them every success in their future careers.”
The Glasgow club were relegated in the top-flight at 2018 and narrowly avoided relegation last season, with Caldwell, 36, taking over after Alan Archibald’s passing last year in October.
First-team striker Kenny Miller, academy director Scott Allison and chief executive Gerry Britton will require control for Thistle’s home game against Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday.
